G2A Launches Geekverse: A Marketplace for NFT Games

Popular gaming keys distributor G2A has introduced a new marketplace called Geekverse, focusing on NFTs (non-fungible tokens) linked to Web3 games. This initiative allows gamers to explore the world of blockchain gaming and discover NFTs from games that have partnered with G2A.

Supporting the Web3 Gaming Industry

G2A CEO Bartosz Skwarczek stated that the company has been closely monitoring the development of the blockchain gaming sector since the advent of the NFT gaming project Cryptokitties in November 2017. In a press release, Skwarczek expressed the company’s interest in understanding the relationship between gamers and blockchain technology. He said, “It turned out that players are quite familiar with the blockchain gaming industry, and a significant portion of them already play web3 games and have even engaged in NFT trading from games.”

To cater to these enthusiasts, G2A decided to create an online space for decentralized game enthusiasts where they can access information about the best web3 games and, most importantly, buy and sell digital assets associated with these games.

Features of Geekverse

Geekverse provides users with the opportunity to purchase and sell NFTs from collections linked to G2A’s partner games. Additionally, the marketplace will host contests, giveaways, and in-game item drops to engage the community further. G2A has also committed to honoring royalties set by NFT collection creators and temporarily waiving transaction fees on NFT sales.

The marketplace currently supports popular blockchains, including Ethereum, Polygon, and BNB Chain, with plans to expand the range of supported blockchains in the future. G2A also intends to introduce their own G2A-themed NFTs down the line.

The Rise of Web3 Gaming

G2A’s entry into the NFT gaming market reflects the growing interest of traditional gaming distributors in Web3 gaming. This trend was illustrated by the inclusion of the NFT-powered card game Gods Unchained in the Epic Games Store in June. Furthermore, one month later, the Google Play Store started accepting NFT games, albeit with certain restrictions to prevent gambling with NFTs.

G2A’s plans for the Geekverse marketplace include expanding the number of supported blockchains, enabling fiat payments, and providing tools for partners to promote their NFT collections.
