Bitcoin: The Only “Neutral Internet Money”
During a recent episode of the What Bitcoin Did podcast, David Marcus, former president of PayPal and ex-vice president of Facebook, made a thought-provoking statement about Bitcoin. He described it as the only form of “neutral internet money” in existence. Marcus firmly believes that Bitcoin holds a distinctive position when compared to other digital assets.
“Bitcoin has more regulatory clarity than any other crypto asset out there.”
Marcus emphasized the advanced regulatory framework surrounding Bitcoin, distinguishing it from its counterparts. He also highlighted the interest shown by regulated financial entities like Fidelity Investments. For instance, Fidelity Investments offers a Bitcoin-denominated 401k, and several Bitcoin spot ETFs are awaiting regulatory approval. Marcus firmly believes that these developments are inevitable, stating, “Eventually, it’ll happen.”
