SK Telecom Partners with Aptos and Atomrigs Lab to Enhance Web3 Wallet Service

SK Telecom, the leading mobile operator in South Korea, has joined forces with Aptos and Atomrigs Lab to further develop its Web3 wallet service. The aim of this collaboration is to enhance the user experience by providing a seamless and secure environment in the web3 ecosystem.

Improving the Capabilities of T Wallet

The partnership focuses on enhancing the capabilities of SK Telecom’s T wallet, which is the company’s existing wallet service. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), SK Telecom stated, “Through the collaboration with Aptos, SK Telecom is committed to delivering a seamless and secure Web3 experience for users.”

Integration with Aptos for Mainnet and dApp Connections

In a separate LinkedIn post, SK Telecom expressed its intention to improve connections with customer-preferred mainnets and decentralized applications (dApps) through this tripartite partnership. The integration with Aptos will expand SK Telecom’s services beyond Ethereum-based blockchain, marking a significant step for the company.

“We will also provide users with tangible value by connecting to the promising dApp ecosystem within Aptos,” the company added.

Avery Ching, the co-founder and chief technology officer of Aptos, emphasized the potential of the partnership to unlock new classes of internet experiences through the MoveVM blockchain technology. Ching highlighted the advantages of sub-second latency, high throughput, and enterprise-grade operations offered by Aptos.

SK Telecom’s collaboration with Aptos follows its recent partnership with CryptoQuant for the launch of the T wallet. This wallet allows users to securely store tokens in a blockchain-based application on their mobile devices. Additionally, in August, SK Telecom partnered with Polygon Labs to further develop its web3 ecosystem.

As the digital asset industry in South Korea continues to gain momentum, a dedicated prosecution unit responsible for investigating crypto crimes is reportedly overloaded with cases. The surge in crypto-related cases comes as crypto scams become more prevalent in the country.

One of the notable cases investigated by the agency involved Terraform Labs, CEO Do Kwon, and other executives, as well as the LUNC cryptoasset. In May, South Korean police shut down two suspected crypto scams worth a combined $350 million, resulting in hundreds of victims being duped. More recently, the country’s police arrested 25 people and shut down a firm involved in a suspected crypto scam that allegedly defrauded 4,000 individuals of their funds.
