Crypto-friendly Swiss-based SEBA Bank AG has recently announced its new brand identity: AMINA Bank AG. The bank assures that this rebranding will not affect its current clients, other than encountering the new name.
The Evolution of AMINA Bank
AMINA Bank AG, formerly SEBA Bank AG, signifies a new chapter for the fully licensed Swiss crypto bank, embracing continuous change and the transformation of clients’ financial future. The name ‘AMINA’ is derived from the word ‘transamination,’ which represents the transference of one compound to another.
AMINA Bank merges elements of traditional, digital, and crypto banking to unlock new potential for its clients. Operating globally from its headquarters in Zug, Switzerland, the bank has branch offices in Abu Dhabi and subsidiaries in Hong Kong and Singapore, all of which will subsequently apply for a name change to align with Zug.
AMINA Bank’s Vision
AMINA Bank CEO, Franz Bergmueller, expressed pride in the group’s accomplishments under the SEBA name. He believes that the rebrand signifies a new era in the company’s growth and strategy, emphasizing that AMINA is a key player in the world of crypto banking, positioned to define the future of finance.
Looking ahead, Bergmueller briefly outlined AMINA’s plans for the coming year. The bank, founded in April 2018, provides fiat and crypto services to progressive investors, including individuals, corporates, and institutions.
“We are here to define the future of finance,” said AMINA Bank CEO Franz Bergmueller.
In 2019, AMINA Bank obtained a Swiss banking and securities dealer license, making it one of the first institutions regulated by the Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) to offer crypto banking services.
Recently, SEBA Hong Kong, a subsidiary of AMINA Bank, received a full license from the city’s Securities and Futures Commission (SFC). This regulatory approval enables the bank to engage in a wide range of financial activities, including handling and advising on both digital and traditional assets. Amy Yu, CEO of the subsidiary, expressed the team’s excitement about servicing APAC clientele, as the region is at the forefront of finance, trading, and innovation.
In addition, AMINA Bank partnered with Switzerland’s fifth-largest cantonal bank, St.Galler Kantonalbank (SGKB), to offer custody and trading services for Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH). Initially available to a select group of wealth-management clients, the service is set to expand to retail customers in the future.
