Bitcoin’s Price Soars as U.S. SEC Considers Bitcoin ETF Approval

Bitcoin’s price has reached a new milestone, soaring to $45,000, its highest point since April 2022. This significant increase comes amidst growing anticipation among investors regarding the decision by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on the approval of spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs). At the time of writing, Bitcoin is being traded for $45,435, a 7% increase from 24 hours ago, according to CoinMarketCap.

Investor enthusiasm has been further fueled by a Reuters report suggesting that the SEC could announce their decision on Bitcoin ETF approval as early as Tuesday, January 2. The report states that sources “who spoke on background given the confidential nature of the discussions” claim the SEC may notify issuers of approval by Tuesday or Wednesday, with the official launch of the approved ETFs expected the following week.
