The Japanese gaming giant Square Enix sells out all character NFTs in first auction for upcoming game

The Japanese gaming company Square Enix, known for popular titles such as Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, and Dragon Quest, has successfully sold all character non-fungible tokens (NFTs) in the first auction for its highly anticipated game Symbiogenesis. This is a remarkable achievement considering the level of interest and excitement surrounding the company’s new projects.

Instead of opting for a public mint, Square Enix decided to conduct the auction in three phases between November 27 and December 3. To participate in the auction, users had to join the Allow List Entry Campaign, adding to the exclusivity of the game. During Phases 1 and 2 of the auction, users were only allowed to bid on one character, driving up the prices of the most sought-after characters. Those who were outbid had the opportunity to bid on a different character.

Winners of the auction were not only able to obtain these exclusive NFT characters but also received additional perks and rewards as top players. However, some users criticized these additional features, claiming they overcomplicated the process.
