Tether, one of the major stablecoin issuers, has significantly increased its issuance of new USDT assets, reaching a total of $4 billion in the past month. The information was shared by Whale Alert on its Telegram channel, revealing that Tether minted an additional $1 billion worth of USDT on the Tron blockchain on November 10. This demonstrates the growing printing exercises of the stablecoin maker.
Paolo Ardoino, Tether’s chief technology officer (CTO), clarified that the $1 billion USDT minted on the Tron blockchain is classified as an inventory replenishment. This means that the amount is authorized but not issued, and it will be used as inventory for future issuance requests and chain swaps.
Notably, Tether had previously minted $1 billion of USDT on the Ethereum blockchain on November 9. Additionally, there were two tranches of issuance, totaling $2 billion, of fiat-backed stablecoins on the Tron network on November 3 and October 19. Overall, Tether has minted a total of $4 billion in USDT in the past month. However, this is not the final target for Tether in terms of minted USDT tokens for the year.
