Training Law Enforcement Personnel
India is taking proactive measures to address the increasing concerns surrounding cryptocurrency-related crimes. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has offered comprehensive training programs to officials from cybercrime and police departments during the financial year 2022–2023. The training aims to equip law enforcement personnel with the necessary skills to effectively combat crimes involving cryptocurrencies.
Under the auspices of the Narcotics Control Bureau, which serves as India’s central law enforcement and intelligence agency, 141 officers received specialized training in darknet investigations, cryptocurrencies, and workshops on digital footprints, intelligence gathering from open sources, and social media analysis. This initiative includes the development of a Core Training Module, along with separate training modules for different ranks, to ensure standardized training on drug law enforcement.
The Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre has also played a significant role by providing training to more than 2,800 cyber police officials in the field of cryptocurrency forensics and investigations. This comprehensive training program covers new technologies such as anonymization networks and the investigation of mobile application misuse in cyberspace.
