Ava Labs, the leading crypto firm supporting the Avalanche blockchain, is set to partner with Indian government agencies and institutions to enhance its operations and contribute to the development of applications on the Avalanche platform (AVA).
Expansion Plans and Key Hires
As part of its ambitious expansion plans, Ava Labs has brought on board Devika Mittal, formerly of OKX, and Kamakshi Arjun, previously affiliated with Polygon, to lead its Indian operations and drive business development.
“I am so excited to help Ava Labs expand its reach and impact in the region, and am confident that Ava Labs is well-positioned to meet the demands of India’s large and growing population of tech-savvy individuals and businesses,”
– Devika Mittal
Kamakshi Arjun, with her extensive experience in the blockchain industry and understanding of the Indian market, will play a crucial role in Ava Labs’ efforts to expand its reach and influence.
“Their extensive experience in the blockchain industry, and deep understanding of this market, will be essential as we work to expand our reach and impact in such an important region,”
– John Nahas, VP of Business Development at Ava Labs
Mittal, in an interview with The Block, revealed that Ava Labs’ operations in India will focus on ticketing, certification, and supply chain sectors. She also emphasized the features of the Avalanche subnet, applauding its potential to accelerate the adoption of blockchain technology.
Ava Labs recognizes India’s “organic passion for blockchain” and its position as the second largest crypto market in the world, according to Chainalysis data. The Indian government’s commitment to promoting blockchain technology through initiatives such as the Centre of Excellence in Blockchain Technology has further fueled Ava Labs’ interest in the region.
Blockchain Innovation in India
Several Indian states, including Goa and Telangana, have displayed a strong enthusiasm for blockchain innovation. These states have spearheaded their own efforts to leverage this emerging technology for real-world applications such as land records and vehicle registrations.
One notable project in India is Loco, the esports and live-streaming platform, which is building a suite of Web3 products and offering unique fan experiences using a custom Avalanche Subnet.
Mittal hinted at the extensive opportunities in the Indian market, mentioning ongoing discussions with various prominent institutions and already securing a deal with a government agency. However, she did not disclose specific details at this time.
