Adidas Launches Residency Program for Web3-Powered Artists

Adidas Studio has recently announced its own residency program for “Web3-powered” digital artists. Known as the Three Stripes Studio, Adidas aims to welcome a diverse range of artists from across the globe through its debut program, called ‘RESIDENCY by Adidas.’ This program aims to foster creativity and innovation while providing a unique opportunity for artists to connect with the brand and the collector community.

A Platform for Collaboration and Showcasing

The RESIDENCY by Adidas program will enable digital artists to engage in collaborations in both the digital and physical realms. It will serve as a platform to showcase artists and their work, giving them global visibility like never before. By partnering with NFT Now for The Gateway’s third iteration at Korean Blockchain Week, Adidas Studio has demonstrated its commitment to exploring new possibilities in the digital art landscape.

The Artwork and Collectible Opportunities

As part of the residency program, Adidas Studio has introduced Tokyo-based Moto (aka MonkeeMoto) and Lebanese artist Adra Kandil (aka DearNostalgia) as hand-selected artists. There are four exclusive artworks available for purchase: ‘Seoul’ and ‘Creatives’ as open edition pieces priced at ETH 0.03, and ‘Soul Searching /// Youth Is Your Privilege’ and ‘Hype’ as limited edition artworks. The limited edition will consist of 100 pieces per artist and will include an exclusive hoodie available only to the launch event attendees. The package is priced at ETH 0.15.

The artworks can be acquired through Manifold using ETH or a credit card starting on Wednesday, September 6. Adidas Studio has also announced that tickets to the launch event are free. Additionally, holders of an ALTS by Adidas NFT can register for a free VIP ticket, providing access to the VIP opening event on September 6 and entry to the 2-day Gateway event.

Adidas’ Journey in the NFT Space

This is not Adidas’ first foray into the world of NFTs. In December 2021, the company released its NFT collection called “Into the Metaverse” in partnership with Yuga Labs, Punks Comic, and Gmoney. The success of this collection propelled Adidas to further explore opportunities in the Web3 space. In April 2023, Adidas launched the ALTS NFT project, allowing “Into the Metaverse” holders to exchange their original NFTs for new Adidas profile pictures tied to a narrative campaign.

More recently, in August of this year, Adidas Originals and BAPE unveiled the highly limited Forum 84 BAPE Low Triple-White sneaker. Supported by Adidas Studio and in partnership with the crypto payments infrastructure provider Moonpay, a limited number of these sneakers were auctioned off and paired with an NFT version.
