Aptos vs. Solana: A New Record Set
Aptos, a layer-1 blockchain platform pioneered by former Facebook employees, has recently achieved a remarkable milestone in blockchain transactions. According to Aptoscan, on May 25, Aptos outperformed Solana with an impressive count of 115.4 million transactions in a single day, surpassing Solana’s 31.7 million.
This surge in transaction volume not only broke past records but also eclipsed Sui Network’s L1 record of over 65 million by a significant margin of over 50%. The substantial increase in transactional activity on Aptos underscores the platform’s growing acceptance and the momentum in the industry.
“The exponential growth in transactional activity on Aptos is a testament to the platform’s scalability and robustness,” stated a representative from Aptoscan. The platform’s user TPS peaked at 32,000 on the same day, showcasing a notable surge in blockchain activity.
The Rise of Tapos Cat Game
The recent surge in transactions on Aptos can be attributed to the success of Tapos Cat, an innovative tap-to-earn game that quickly gained popularity. Within its debut on the mainnet, Tapos Cat processed an outstanding 10 million transactions, significantly contributing to the heightened activity on the platform.
Tapos Cat offers users the chance to earn $HEART tokens by engaging in ‘tickling’ a virtual cat, promoting multiple transactions within the game. Furthermore, the game initially waives gas fees for 72 hours, incentivizing players to participate without incurring extra charges.
Critics, including the CEO of Helius Labs, have raised concerns about Tapos Cat’s long-term sustainability and practical value. While some argue that the game’s mechanics may artificially inflate metrics, advocates of Aptos see Tapos Cat as a fundamental engineering endeavor, spotlighting the platform’s scalability and strength.
In a recent development, Aptos Labs expanded its team by adding global advisors, such as David Lawee, former vice president of corporate development at Google. Collaborating with Atomrigs Lab, Aptos Labs announced the upcoming launch of T wallet, a Web3 service, in partnership with South Korean telecommunications giant SK Telecom (SKT).
